Manausen

As mentioned on the previous page, the considerable but still reasonable dimensions are necessary because the length of the horn and the size of the "mouth" determine the lowest reproducible frequency.

The horn is made up of two units that are assembled during positioning. The decision to divide the horn into two parts at a diameter of 86 cm was made both for easier mobilization during processing and for the ability to fit it into most environments with standard 90 cm passageways.

Driver

In the photos: Fostex 208 esigma

With appropriate and minimal modifications and differences from the final realization, it is possible to opt for the use of other 8-inch fullrange drivers from other manufacturers, which will in turn characterize the type of listening to the final sound.

This Fostex driver that appears in all the photos is no longer available in the catalog.

The operating characteristics of high efficiency fullrange drivers do not require the use of a crossover, but it depends on the schools of thought. In the Manausen project, it was decided not to use it in order to stay true to the original concept of using/listening to fullrange drivers. Therefore, the connection of the drivers to the amplifier is direct through power cables without the use of any electronic device or component that could influence the signal and, as a consequence, the final listening experience. The power cable enters the enclosure from the bottom, passing directly through a special conduit, until it reaches the driver to be connected. The maximum diameter of the cables that can be used is 6mm.
