 "Theory for design"

"Dedicated to the design and production of horn speakers and primarily based on the writing of Jack Dinsdale that appeared in the English magazine "Wireless World" from March to June 1974."

"The horn acts as a highly efficient acoustic transformer that, with modest excursions of the speaker diaphragm, allows the achievement of high sound levels and therefore an unparalleled dynamic range to this day."

"The software of Gian Piero Matarazzo was used for the study of the horn. Horn1.exe is software written, saved, and sold on a floppy disk along with the aforementioned book "The Design of Horn Speakers". Although with some modifications, the program remained the same exact sequence of equations from Horn64 with the transfer function assembled thanks to the studies of Small, Keele, Young, and Margolis and the numerous additions of other illustrious researchers.

Choice of driver with related parameters.

Definition of solid angle of radiation

Calculation of optimal SD/ST ratio

Definition of the number of segments of the actual horn

Development of openings

Calculation of the front volume inversely proportional to the maximum desired frequency and the rear volume for the reactance annulling of the horn itself."

"I cannot fail to mention the valuable help of Architect Paolo Viappiani, who kindly offered to review the entire project and evaluate and correct the processed data and calculations."
